Geocache Description:

Located at the famous Maracas Beach, Trinidad's most popular beach. A must for every visitor to the island!

On Trinidad's North Coast, Maracas Bay and the Maracas Beach are known for their excellent bathing, beautiful view and popular dish, Shark & Bake. You can reach the beach via the north coast road, leaving Port-of-Spain through Maraval, or on the Eastern Main Road at San Juan via Santa Cruz valley. The north coast road also connects to other bays after Maracas, mainly Tyrico, Las Cuevas and Blanchisseuse, and then turns back inland to Arima to connect back the the eastern main road and the high way. From Port-of-Spain the beach is about 35-45 minutes drive. Make sure to drive carefully since there are lots of sharp bends on the north coast road.

Maracas Beach is very popular with both locals and tourists especially on week-end and public holidays. Camping is allowed in a designated area (permit required) There is also a hotel nearby. Pay attention to the red and yellow flags on the beach, they indicate unsafe bathing areas due to ocean currents. Life guards are on duty from 10am - 6pm.
There is a large parking lot close to the beach, a fee is charged for parking. There are lots of food stalls nearby as well as on the beach. Toilet and shower facilities are also available on the beach.

The cache consists of a small magnetic black box and has a plastic zip-lock bag around it for water protection. Please use stealth and pay close attention when you look for the cache and when you find it and place it back in its original position. Since the area is very popular with both locals and tourists, many people may be close by.

Remember to keep T&T beautiful! Do not litter and pick up any garbage you may find to dispose it properly in one of the bins nearby on the beach.

And do not forget to take a dip in the ocean and enjoy the sea breeze on the beach!
