Bienvenidos a otro cache, esta vez en el pueblo de Mayagüez pero a las afueras de la cuidad. Este es un parque que esta en el olvido por el municipio de Mayagüez. No lo digo por el lugar sino porque se nota que el parque lo hicieron bastante tiempo atrás y necesita una remodelación. El sitio es calladito y muy buen lugar para estar en contacto con un ambiente natural y tan cerca de la vez de la cuidad. Ven y camina, juega baloncesto o simplemente lea un libro en paz y sosiego.

El parque lleva por nombre el Parque Luís Muñoz Rivera (Biografía):

Nacido en Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, Muñoz Rivera estudió en escuelas locales y entro a la política en el 1887. El llegó a ser un líder del Partido Autónomo y en 1890 fundo el periódico “La Democracía”. En 1893 él viajó a España para aprender acerca de su sistema político. Cuándo él volvió a Puerto Rico, él tomó parte en la escritura del Plan de Ponce que propuso autonomía administrativa para la isla. En marzo del 1895 él volvió a España como parte de una comisión que encontró con el líder Liberal Práxedes Mateo Sagasta. Ese grupo político aceptó que las vistas de la comisión y en noviembre 1897 Sagasta otorgó el Fletamento de Autonomist. Muñoz Rivera sirvió como Ministro y Jefe del Gabinete para el Gobierno nuevamente-independiente de Puerto Rico hasta que las tropas de EE.UU. invadieron la isla en julio 1898.

Welcome to another cache, this time in the town of Mayagüez but in the outskirts of the town. This is a park that has been over sighted by the municipality of Mayagüez. It’s not at all the place; it’s that the park hasn’t been considered for a reconstruction yet. The place is very silent and a great place to be in contact with a natural environment even though it’s so near to the town. Come and take a walk, play basketball or simply read a book in a peace and calm environment.

The park carries for name the Park Luís Muñoz Rivera (Biography) :

Born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, Muñoz Rivera studied in local schools and entered politics in 1887. He became a leader of the Autonomist Party and in 1890 founded its newspaper La Democracía. In 1893 he journeyed to Spain to learn about its political system. When he returned to Puerto Rico, he participated in the writing of the Plan de Ponce which proposed administrative autonomy for the island. In March 1895 he returned to Spain as part of a commission that met with Liberal leader Práxedes Mateo Sagasta. That political group accepted the commission's views and in November 1897 Sagasta granted the Autonomist Charter. Muñoz Rivera served as Secretary of State and Chief of the Cabinet for the newly-independent Government of Puerto Rico until U.S. troops invaded the island in July 1898.

The park opens from 9:00a.m. to 9:00p.m. every day.
