Due to my advancing age, I (and my doctor) am concerned about the possibility of my experiencing a medical situation while on the road to Maintain one or more of my 120 GC Geocaches and 50 GCA Geocaches.
If you live near this Geocache, or regularly travel near it, you might be interested in Adopting this Geocache (or more of mine). Please let me (WanderingAus) know by Message at
Geocaching Message Center
if you are interested, including the cache code or codes
(e.g GC1GTBQ for this cache).
Due to the temporary nature of pens and pencils in my geocaches
BRING YOUR OWN WRITING IMPLEMENT!!!
Before the extension of the East Hills Railway across the river the footbridge was used extensively by Navy men living in married quarters across the river to walk to the train and get to work around Sydney. A few of us soldiers stationed at Holsworthy also used it as a quicker way to the city than via Liverpool. The bridge still seems to get a lot of use, and except for a bit of graffiti is in great shape and is an interesting walk.
I must have got a touch of the sun by the time I placed this one, I'd walked almost 9 Km for the day (with only one lung), and for some crazy reason I wrote "Milperra Bridge Walk" on the cache container and log book, instead of "East Hills Bridge Walk". If someone cares to cross out the Milperra and write in East Hills it will eliminate confusion and save me a return trip.
There is parking nearby at S33°57.685' E150°58.900' as well as along the street, wasn't a problem early afternoon of a workday. The above coordinates will take you to the Eastern abuttment. From there cross the footbridge, counting the number of mesh panels on the upstream side. nn = number of panels
aaa = (13 * nn) + 16
bbb = (14 * nn) - 16
GZ is at S33°57.aaa E150°58.bbb
After you leave the bridge you will see a sign to the left for "River Walk 20 Minutes". If you set your "goto" from the right hand side of the sign, and take the trail leading from the right hand side, it's a very easy walk. Just follow the trail until "Off Course" and "Distance to Next" (or whatever similar terms your gyzmo uses) are about the same, turn left and you should almost trip over it.
The cache is a 1 litre clear square cliplock container inside a grey plastic bag. Initial contents are First and Second To Find cards, finders cards, 5 ring key ring with blue LED light, 6 piece jewellers screwdriver set, Australia key ring, blind spot mirror, Hot Wheels "Ratbomb" car, log book, pen, pencil & sharpener.
When trading items please consider trading up or trading even and leaving items that you would want to find, and please don't take the pen, pencils or sharpener. If you can't trade up or trade even I don't mind seeing TNLNSL in the log. Also please don't put the pen or pencils in the log book bag, it tends to destroy the watertight integrity.
Trackables (geocoins and travel bugs) are not tradeable items. Please feel free to take them without making a trade, but please leave a note in the logbook and your online log, and do log them online.
