This is the spot of what was once one of the busiest Drive-Ins in the area, the Frost Top. Grey Wolf had a convertible (pictured below) in those days and Wild Rice worked as a carhop here. The smell of burgers, Root Beer, and 100 octane Ethyl gasoline engulfed this intersection every summer night. High octane gas was 39 cents a gallon and all the big block V-8's sucked it up like water just to light up the tires when leaving. 427's, 409's, 396's, and 440's ruled the streets in those days. Now we use some metric designation that no one understands.......3.0 liter? What's that? Well, chrome and big tailfins were in style. Chrome mags with red line tires were all the rage. We backed into the parking spots, cranked up the 8-tracks and ordered up a Root Beer. It's all history now. Gone are the Roadside, the Sun, Frisky's, and many more of these Drive-Ins GW and WR used to frequent.
