AT has brought me on a
couple of cycling adventures:
* 28 Miles on the East Bay Bike Trail (my rump is still
sore!)
* The Airline Trail in CT - "trail" may be a little generous
* Several miles in GW WMA which were actually quite enjoyable.
My skills and stamina seem to be improving, so maybe one day I
can take off the training wheels and ride with the big boys.
As I planned to tackle the nearby Big River Ramble on bike, I
decided I'd place a cache in the same area, and give AT a reason to
do a little exploring (or at least to vary his routine). It seems
he is always doing the same loop, checking up on his extensive
cache for others who keep saying they are ready to do the cache.
But never getting around to it.
You can grab this one as a slight detour from Big River Ramble
(I won't say where the departure point from that one is!), or
tackle it all by itself. It's no where near as long a ride, so
maybe you can use it as a warm up. Rather than walking this one,
why not get that mountain bike out of garage and take it for a
spin, and do it the "AT Way"
The total round trip from the parking lot is just about two and
a half miles. If you tackle it from Big River Ramble, be prepared
for some minor water hazards (you can avoid getting wet!), and some
rough down hills. Note that I was able to do it, so if you have
been riding for a while, it should be fine.
The FTF Prize is reserved for the first person to do it on a
bike. There is a sticker indicating it is the prize.
Be sure to let someone know where you are headed, and bring a
cellphone. An emergency card such a
this one is also a good idea.
