A small cache in one of the larger parks of Dubai. Should be, I say, should be, an easy find!
When I first arrived in Dubai I lived near this park. Early on I was told an urban legend of the creation of this park in 1975. The area was full of illegal immigrants needing a place to stay, who were promptly evicted when the park was built. When the area was being turned into a park, legend says that top soil was brought in from the home country of many of the people staying in the park area. Being only sand, Dubai needed something more fertile to keep the plants healthy and alive!
But, that innocent top soil carried a deadly secret. Within days of being laid workers noticed small holes in the dirt, and markings in the sand. Within weeks stories of bites and emergency room visits were the norm in the surrounding neighborhoods.
It seems that the soil brought to Dubai has contained thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, of cobra eggs, which had then hatched and split out all over Dubai.
To help you navigate the cache is placed in the highest point of the park, or close to. UPDATE: Placed very low and very small. The cobras may be watching.
When you log your visit, please post your favorite urban legend about Dubai or your hometown if you aren't from Dubai.
Oh yes, and ALWAYS check your shoes before putting them on!
The cache started with a TB, a Geo-Bug, and a cache book, but no Pen or Pencil, bring your own! UPDATE: Cache container is now VERY small, with a bright green top - see pics.
**There is AED3 charge to enter the park. Make sure you bring enough!
