La città conserva ancora un tratto delle mura farnesiane cinquecentesche che nel Rinascimento circondavano completamente l'antico abitato.Le mura sono interrotte dai bastioni di Porta Borghetto, punto di comunicazione, a Nord, fra la cinta esterna e quella interna del nucleo urbano.

A part of the 16th century walls surrounding the town during the renaissance period still exists. The walls are interrupted by Porta Borghetto donjons,which allowed, north of town, the communication between the outer and inner walls of the town.
