This cached was place for the Somebody Loves You Crusade 10.25.08.
A quick and easy one. This airport was built in 1940 and served as an auxiliary glider airport during World War II. Today you can observe different types of aircraft at this county airport, ranging from gliders to small passenger planes to a Rockwell Aero Commander. This airport is also home to the 29 Palms Soaring Club.
The original tetrahedron, or wind indicator, from Condor Field (at 29 Palms Marine Base) which was used from 1942 to 1944 is now at this airport. It was given to the airport in 1983 by the Marine Corps Base in quite a dilapidated condition and has since been restored for use.
