Geocache Description:

An easy drive by cache hidden in a small reserve on Wellington’s south coast.

Moai
The main feature of the reserve is the Moai keeping silent watch over Lyall bay. Moai are the traditional sculptures that Rapanui (Easter Island) is famous for. This one was gifted to the People of New Zealand by the President of the Republic of Chile in May 2004.On a fine day this is one of my favorite spots on the south coast and a great place to view the rugged grandeur of Wellington, and beyond.
