Scouting the Midden (Auckland) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Tramper Ted: The cache has indeed gone, as reported by Capt. Mortein after checking. This has always been a tricky hide as the cache tended to not always stay in its hiding place. We have decided to archive it but hope all the visitors have enjoyed the area.

Geocache Description:

Waiheke has considerable evidence of pre-European Maori occupation.

At the end of Shelly Beach Road the Waiheke scout troop has regular meetings in their clubrooms. Continue on along the little track from the carpark and you will find lots of historic evidence of Maori middens and settlement sites, as well as great views of the surrounding bays.

The cache site is in one of these trenches. Please replace the cache so it is securely wedged behind the root, and well hidden.

Enjoy your visit.
