Buffalo Pie
I've lived off of Clinton Park Way
for all but one of the past 23 years I've been back in
Lawrence. I've always considered this statue mine even though
it belongs to all of the citizens of Lawrence. It used to
have an dedications plaque, now missing. Not sure what
happened. The buffalo was hit by a car a few years back,
which has a story of it's own (it wasn't me), as a result it's tail
was broken off and repaired. A neighborhood resident even
dresses it in costumes on certain holidays, Halloween, Christmas,
New Years, July 4th. I think I've even seen it with rabbit
ears a few times. The native grasses planted here was
beautiful years ago but is starting to be overgrown by
sunflowers. Enjoy this landmark and cache that signals to my
family and I that we are within blocks of our home.
Your looking for a bison near the
bison so BYOWU. Parking can be had north of buffalo on
Marvone Street.
BEWARE OF MUGGLES!! The
sidewalk in front is a high traffic area for bikers, walkers and
joggers at times.
