During severe weather storms many older utility poles become damaged beyond repair. Oftentimes it leaves paying customers without power. When this occurs the power company must replace the pole in order to restore service - this is called a pole transfer. After the new pole is set into place someone must climb to the top of the pole to transfer over the wires. Using sharp metal spikes attached to iron which strap around a climber's legs, the climber must strike the wooden pole with accuracy in order to climb successfully. This method of climbing is called gaffing. Some gaffing took place here during this pole transfer.
No gaffing is needed to find this cache however some lifting may be required.
Accurate gps reading is difficult to come by due to ambient static electricity.
There is no need to disturb live vegetation. Please tread lightly.
Good luck.
