WSQ Princess Charity's Archery Park
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
Cache is located in St. Mary's Cemetery in Marion. Lancelot's grandmother is buried here and there are some interesting stones to see. Cache container is a 6" plastic tube with log book, pencil, and some small trade items. Please replace the hide as near in appearance as you found it.
Long before stones stood as markers, this was the archery park of Princess Charity, known for her keen ability to sling arrows and always hit her target. The tree where this cache is hidden stood as a guardian over the park, and the princess's clout was often positioned in front of it. When she grew tired of shooting, she would lounge on the hillside in the lush grass and listen to the wind rustling the leaves overhead.
There are many rural cemeteries in Wisconsin. Geocaching is a great way to get out and see some of these remote places, discover some interesting and unique markers, and to help ensure that those that have gone before us are not forgotten. With cemetery caches, the cache container is not hidden on or connected in any way to any grave site or marker. Occasionally, some information from a marker may be used to obtain final cache coordinates. Please be respectful of the cemetery and anyone visiting it.
