A section of the old Chester Valley Railroad is being converted into a trail for recreational use, and right now it’s a half mile trail to/from nowhere. Part of the trail is still under construction and, it is not necessary to use the trail to get to this cache location (but you could).
The Chester Valley Railroad was formed in 1850, and ran 22 miles from Downingtown to Bridgeport. There were 20 stations along the way, and there is a plaque on the ruins of the Mahlin Station (see cords below). The line was abandoned by the railroad in 1992, and a 16 mile section was acquired by the Chester County Parks and Recreation Department.
This cache is close to where I work, and I couldn’t resist placing one here! Do NOT try to walk up the trail from route 29, as there is no safe place to park. Please BRING YOUR OWN PEN to sign log!
