Geocache Description:

Una passeggiata tra i monumenti della Regina viarum nel suggestivo paesaggio della campagna romana.
E' qui che la strada presenta recinzioni laterali di tipo agricolo.
La vista spazia sulle grandi tenute dell‘Agro Romano,
fino ai Castelli Romani. Si oltrepassano i confini di Roma per entrare in quelli dei Comuni di Marino e Ciampino.

Qui si trovano dei resti di edifici (ancora in fase di scavo).
Oltrepassando il piccolo ponte sotto la linea ferroviaria per Velletri, resta un notevole sepolcro a pianta circolare:
forse in origine sormontato da un coronamento di forma conica, aveva lo zoccolo con prospetto in laterizi scandito da nicchie rettilinee e semicircolari alternate, separate da semicolonne;
all’interno del mausoleo è la cella in opera quadrata di peperino, con nicchie per le deposizioni.

A walk through the monuments of the Regina viarum with a backdrop of enchanting Roman countryside.
The route is lined with rustic walls and the view opens out over the extensive farms of the Agro Romano
as far as the Castelli Romani. The route passes out of Rome and into the municipalities of Marino and Ciampino.

Here are the remains of buildings (still under excavation).
Across the little bridge under the railway line to Velletri, rests a remarkable, circular design tomb.
Originally it may have been surmounted by cone-shaped crowning and it had a plinth with a brickwork prospect
punctuated by alternate straight and semi-circular niches, separated by half-columns.
Inside the mausoleum lies the cell in “Opera quadrata” Peperino stone, with niches to
serve their functions.
