Geocache Description:

A nice little walk up the hill. Not too strenuous

L'Aube hill is named for the French Naval Ship that accompanied the French & German Settlers who arrived on the Comte de Paris in 1840

This is one of the earliest Cemeteries on Banks Peninsular and holds settlers who only had a few years in their new land before their deaths. The names of some very early families are listed on the monument.

Cache was placed on the eve of FrenchFest 2008, in which the landing is being re-enacted by direct descendants of those pioneers. Information about our descendants group is available at www.cdp.org.nz

Cache is a flat camo-painted tupperware container with the usual log book, pencil & sharpener.
Also holds a yellow Key Tag
A China dolls teacup and a Pacific themed pendant.
