Geocache Description:

Easy walk to this Cache - parking is available close by

Gedney Drove End is one of the Lincolnshire Villages which almost touch the end of The Wash.
It is also home to RAF Holbeach, who control access to the Air Weapons Range in The Wash. The Area is still used by the modern War Planes for their Target practice. You can frequently see Aircraft in action.
In contrast part of the Coastline is dedicated to the Wash National Nature Reserve, the largest of its kind in England. Further info. can be found at their web site: www.naturalengland.org.uk. Whilst visiting this area you are encouraged to walk the footpaths along the Seawall which give some spectacular views across the Wash.
Folk interested in Ancient Ordnance Survey Trig Points can see a fine example nearby. It can be found at N 52.49.979 E 0.11.697. There is also a web site for this activity, where you can record your sighting; www.trigpointinguk.com - ensure you note the Unique Number of the Flush Bracket (Plate), fixed to the side of the Pillar.
Within a few yards of this Monument you can also see another notable war-time Building, a rectangular Pill Box.
The Cache itself is located just off the footpath, outside the gate/stile leading to the Nature Reserve. There is a short - 10 yd. approx. – incline to negotiate to reach your goal. It is a small lock & lock rectangular plastic box. When set it contained a FTF Certificate and Button Badge, log book and pencil, and an activated TB. There was also small items to swap.

For the benefit of future Cachers, it would be appreciated if retrieved TB's or Geocoins could be replaced by a similar item. Many thanks.

FTF!!! Congratulations to Mimi and Bod.
