Bowdoin Overlook Traditional Cache

This cache is located on the yellow trail in Bowdoin Park. It is the third cache placed near the overlook over the past few years. I've placed this so that it should be safe from muggles, but still close enough for everyone to enjoy the beautiful view over the Hudson River. The yellow trail can be rocky in places, therefore I gave it a 2.5 rating, but most of the trail is fairly wide with only slight grades. The cache itself is a cammoed .30 cal. ammo can that is EAST of the trail, away from the overlook. There can be some bounce in this location, so keep in mind that you should be above the cliffs. Cache is within 40 feet of the trail. The overlook is very rocky with a good drop, so please keep kids close when approaching it and be careful in winter. The trails are very family friendly and pets are allowed as long as they are on leashes of less than 6 feet.
Bowdoin Park is located along the Hudson River on Sheaf Rd. in Wappingers Falls and is open from 9am-6pm. Trail maps can usually be found at a kiosk just after the main gate. There is plenty of parking with several pavilions and a nice playground for kids. Be sure to bring a camera and enjoy this beautiful park.
