Recomiendo buscar este cache en las tardes pues parece que en jornada laboral hay un guardia vigilando la entrada. Pueden entrar por la derecha del portón. Si van de 8 am a 2:30 pm pueden decirle al señor que quieren tomar fotografías del lugar y este los dejará pasar sin ningún problema.

La caña de azúcar llegó a Europa a través de las conquistas de los musulmanes y llegó al Nuevo Mundo traída por Cristóbal Colón en 1493 desde las Islas Canarias a La República Dominicana, y de allí llegó a PR en 1515, para ser sembrada en las riveras del río Toa. El primer molino fue establecido en Añasco en 1523 por Tomás de Castellón. Desde finales del siglo 19 Puerto Rico hace una transición hacia un capitalismo agrario y desde entonces la industria azucarera cobra gran importancia en la economía mundial. Durante la primera mitad del siglo 20 se cuentan en PR un total de 43 centrales azucareras, trabajando bajo producción por cuotas. Para la segunda mitad del siglo 19 ya existía la Hacienda San José propiedad de Don Carlos Manuel Fajardo y Belvis, luego pasó a ser propiedad de Don Mateo Fajardo en 1907 y recibe el nombre de Central Eureka. Esta cesó actividades en 1977 después de ser una de las más importantes centrales azucareras de PR.
La Central Eureka está a unos 290 m de la carretera 114, hay espacio para estacionar (N18 07.170 W67 07.051), allí observarás unas puertas usualmente cerradas. Se puede entrar pasando por la derecha del portón. Los vecinos me dijeron que se puede entrar sin problemas, que las puertas las puso el Municipio de Hormigueros para evitar que entren carros a arrojar basura en las ruinas. Si llegan a preguntar pueden decir que van a tomar fotografías.
