Construction began on the creamery on Feb 6/1911. On April 20 1911 it officially opened. It closed over the winter months until 1915 when there was a considerable patron increase. Due to award the award winning butter being produced the facility had to double its size in 1920. The updated building now had a complete refrigerator plant and manufactured ice cream. Records show that the output of butter in 1911 was around 10,000 lbs and in 1921 over 100,000 lbs.plus 5,000 lbs of Ice cream. Unfortunately on June 25, 1922 the creamery burned to the ground. Only the office was saved. In 1929 the Brandon Creamery and Supply Co of Brandon decided to locate a creamery here and secured the land on which the Elkhorn Creamery originally stood. July 3, 1929 it reopened. 1939 it won top place at the Brandon Fair for the finest butter. 1945 the Creamery was purchased by Manitoba Cooperative Dairies. November 13, 1951 Elkhorn District was awarded the honor of Reserve Champion at the Toronto Royal Winter Fair. The butter scored 97.3 points out of a possible 100. In 1948,1949 & 1950 the Elkhorn Creamery won first prize for the BEST KEPT CREAMERY and SURROUNDINGS in MANITOBA!!

Now this building is home to Virden & Wallace recycling building.
