Geocache Description:

This cache is in a beautiful grove of Hemlock and Pine, about a mile from the North Farms Rd. entrance to the Fitzgerald Lake Conservation Area. The route is mostly on well used trails, with the last quarter mile or so being a bushwhack. It is also on a bee-line for the Rock Ridge cache (GCRDAX).

From the parking area use the Lake Trail. A little after the dam, bear slightly left at the sign for Cook's Pasture Trail. This trail climbs steadily for a short distance, then begins to descend, and peters out as it nears the wetlands. It is best to head off the trail as it begins to descend, and stay on the higher ground to the west of the marshes. This will help minimize your impact on the area, and also help keep your feet dry.

There is a stream near the cache site. It's a wonderful place for a picnic lunch, and a nap. There are many birds to watch, lots of wildlife, and surprisingly little ambient human noise.

Please remember that hunting is allowed in the area. So, be aware of the season, and respectful of the hunters. This would make a great snowshoe in the winter, but the hide is not very winter friendly.

I left a two-pack of lithium batteries for the FTF.
