An easy cache at an old industrial site in the forest near Clunes.
I discovered this relic after looking for a place to stash a cache in the nearby woods. It was too interesting a feature to ignore so a change of location was made.
Unfortunately, I have so far been unable to find out any information about this site or its owner. Should I make progress in this direction, I’ll add it to this description at a later date.
There were so many hiding places on and around this apparatus that cried out to be used but most looked so potentially snakey with summer coming on that I decided to give them a miss. You are looking for a 1 litre camo-painted Sistema container in the bush near the site. It contains all the usual stuff.
Tree cover is likely to have some effect on reception but the co-ordinates will put you well within reach.
Please note: There is a dam at the site as well as two large in-ground vats, the cover on one of which is broken away, exposing a dangerous drop into the fluid below. Youngsters should be kept under supervision when in its vicinity.
Easily accessible on a good unsealed track, there is ample parking with picnic facilities nearby.
