9 Monte Sasso è una collina morenica situata a cavallo del confine
italo-svizzero.
Si trova a Cavallasca, un paesino a pochi chilometri da Como e,
con la misura di 618 metri, è la cima più alta fra quelle
appartenenti al Parco della Spina Verde. Il monte è ricco di
natura, arte e storia e, dalla sua sommità, si godono sempre
spettacolari panorami.
Una delle maggiori attrazioni del Sasso di Cavallasca sono le
trincee.
Infatti l’area è ricca di fortificazioni costruite dall’OAFN
(Organizzazione Avanzata Frontiera Nord) nel corso della I guerra
mondiale per difendere il confine nord in caso di un’invasione da
parte degli imperi centrali (Austria e Germania) attraverso la
neutrale Svizzera. Il generale Luigi Cadorna ordinò di realizzare
questo sistema difensivo dalla Val d'Ossola alla Bergamasca.
Dopo la fine della guerra, nel 1918, la linea fortificata venne
abbandonata. I resti delle trincee della Linea Cadorna sono
tutt’ora visitabili e costituiscono una delle mete preferite dai
turisti per la presenza di numerose e interessanti strutture. In
particolare si possono vedere trincee aperte, gallerie, depositi
per materiali bellici e per viveri, grotte, stanze, botole,
cunicoli scavati nella roccia, postazioni di avvistamento, targhe
del Genio Militare, abbeveratoi e anche piazzole per mitragliatrici
e mortai.
Sul monte Sasso vi sono anche due punti panoramici che attirano
moltissime persone per la spettacolare vista che si può godere
dalla loro posizione.
Dal primo è possibile vedere la collina del monte Goj, il monte Tre
Croci, i comuni di Cavallasca e di San Fermo della Battaglia, la
prosecuzione della collina del Parco verso Parè e Drezzo nonché,
sullo sfondo, la cerchia morenica e la pianura padana con
Milano.
Invece dal secondo punto panoramico chiamato "Pin Umbrela" per la
presenza di un pino marittimo, simbolo dell’ex club sciistico di
Monteolimpino, è possibile ammirare la meravigliosa veduta sulla
collina di Cardina, sul monte Bisbino, sui paesi di Cernobbio,
Maslianico, Rovenna, Piazza, Santo Stefano e sul primo bacino del
lago di Como.

Questo primo cache della zona, vi porterà al punto panoramico ‘Pin
Umbrela’.
Spero a breve di poterne posizionare altri, in questa zona
particolarmente interessante.
Raggiunto il WP park1 a Cavallasca (purtroppo pochi posti)
continuare fino a raggiungere il cartello indicatore (WP Start),
proseguire quindi lungo la strada, che in alcuni tratti si inerpica
piuttosto ripida.
Seguire quindi le indicazioni per il sentiero 7 (Sasso
Cavallasca-punto panoramico ‘Pin Umbrela’). Dopo un tratto
piuttosto ripido il sentiero spiana, con una bel panorama sulla
pianura. Continuare quindi al WP-B1 e seguire le indicazioni per
‘Punto panoramico’.
Dal parcheggio sono circa 2 km e 200 mt di dislivello, fattibile
anche in mountain bike ma con attenzione, soprattutto in discesa,
per alcuni tratti sconnessi e coperti da foglie.
In alternative c’è anche un sentiero che sale da S. Fermo dalla
Battaglia (consigliato in discesa in bike) che si congiunge con il
bivio WP-B1.

Monte Sasso is a morainic hill situated to horse of the border
Italian-Swiss. It is found to Cavallasca, a small village to little
kilometers from Como and, with the measure of 618 meters, it is the
higher top between those pertaining to the Park of the Green Thorn.
The mount is rich of nature, art and history and, from its top,
always spectacular panoramas are enjoyed.
One of the greater attractions of the Pebble of Cavallasca is the
trenches. In fact the area is rich of fortifications constructed
from the OAFN (Advanced Organization Frontier North) in the course
of the world war in order to defend the border north in case of an
invasion from the empires centers them (Austria and Germany)
through neutral Switzerland. General Luigi Cadorna ordered to
realize this defensive system from the Val d' Ossola to the Of
Bergamo one.
After the end of the war, in 1918, the fortified line came
abandoned. The rests of the trenches of the Cadorna Line are now to

their position.
From the first one it is possible to see the hill of the Goj
mount, the monte tre Croci, the municipalities of Cavallasca and
Saint Fermo of Battaglia, the prosecuzione of the hill of the Park
towards Parè and Drezzo let alone, on the background, cerchia
morainic and the ‘pianura padana’ with Milan.
Instead from according to called panoramic point " Pin Umbrela"
for the presence of a marine pine, symbol of the former sciistico
club of Monteolimpino, is possible to admire the wonderful view on
the hill of Cardina, the Bisbino mount, the countries of Cernobbio,
Maslianico, Rovenna, piazza Santo Stefano and on the first river
basin of the lake of Como.

From the parking they are approximately 2 km and 200 mt of
unevenness, possible also in mountain bike but attention above all
in reduction for some unconnected and covered features from
leaves.
In alternatives there is also a path that they from S. Fermo della
Battaglia (advised in reduction in bike knows) that she is combined
with crossroad WP-B1.
