Cuthbert's Ghost Traditional Cache
Workyticket: As there appears to have been no response from the CO we are archiving this cache listing to prevent it from continually showing up in search lists and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements in the area. Once a cache is archived for non-responsiveness (including the cache page) it can't be unarchived.

An alarming number of tourists are getting stuck on the causeway at Holy Island requiring rescue by the RNLI and RAF. The tide comes in very fast, the currents are very strong, and it gets very deep. At best, you will never be able to use your car again, and at worst, you (or your family) could die. Your big four wheel drive will not get though eight feet of water, and don't expect it to still be on the road when the tide recedes because the currents are that strong. You have been warned!
According to legend, the ghost of St Cuthbert roams Holy Island at night, carving beads out of little stones. They can be difficult to find, especially at first, but there are plenty in the area where this cache is hidden. Please be careful opening the box so you don't drop beads on the ground. Feel free to take some, or add some.
The best places to look for beads are along exposed banks where the mud is dry and bare. The rain washes the top soil off and leaves the beads sticking out of, and lying on top of the surface. There are various places in the quarry where you can find beads easily, but the best quality beads are a little more difficult to find. The best place to find these is along the mound that runs through the bottom of the quarry, just near to where the cache is, again on bare soil, or among and beneath the small stones.
