Geocache Description:

WEAR YOUR BLAZE ORANGE!!!

This section of the Naugatuck Forest is now open to bow hunting.

This 597 acre tract was acquired by the state in 2001-2002 from the Birmingham Utilities water company.  It was named the “John C. 'Skip' Hobson Watershed Land” after the forester who spent 40 years maintaining the property for the water company.  It’s a very peaceful park – no waterfalls or scenic vistas, just quiet woodlands.

The name of the cache says it all.  It is not meant to be overly difficult or too easy.  The only hint I will give is that it is on the eastern side of the brook.  Bring a pen.

Several cachers have experienced difficulty with this cache (look at the ratio of blue faces-to-smilies).  Although the geocache rating system suggests a difficulty of 3, I’m raising the rating (again) to 4.  This may take a while to find.  For those experiencing GPS bounce, I’ve added a small cairn on a nearby boulder.  Find the boulder and you’ll know you’re within 25 feet of the cache.  This is not a unique hide.  I’ve seen it before.  Remember that frustration increases over time.  If you get frustrated easily, perhaps bring some friends along.  Extra eyes will probably help,

Snow or ice will add another star to the difficulty and/or terrain.

This park closes at sunset.  Night caching is not allowed.  See the DEP Pamphlet and Trail map images below for more info.

This cache is about ½ mile from either parking area.  If you want to also do Thank you Skip, park at the official parking area.  If you want to do Tri-Tubular Loop, Micro Shell, Near the Tunnel, Babbling Brook, or Babbling On and On, parking at the Beaver St. pull-off is probably the better choice.

Car-Cache-Car: about 1 mile and 30 minutes.  Search time will vary depending on the cacher.  :)
