Geocache Description:

Cache is located near city of Vrsac in Serbia

Vrsac is a nice town, which is approx 84 km away from Belgrade or, to put it that way - slightly more than an hour of pleasant car ride.

Cache is located on "Vrsacki breg" hill above city of Vrsac, close to the medieval Vršac fortress/tower ("Vrsacka kula") located there. "Vrsacka Kula" is a small medieval fortress, from 15th century, most likely built by the Serbian despot at that time - Djuradj Brankovic.

The tower, 20 m high, at the eastern side of the plateau, dominates the whole fortress and has a commanding view of the area. Nowadays it very popular sightseeing spot, and many people visit the area to admire views that extend as far as Romania.

Tower had a ground floor and 3 more levels (storeys) separated with wooden plank floors supported with massive beams. The remains of a fire place with a chimney have been preserved on the third floor, indicating its residential function.

A near-by (on the same hill) local communications antenna tower was bombed by NATO in the 1999 attacks on Serbia, and medieval Tower has been damaged due to its proximity to the real target ("collateral damage"). To some degree this has been reconstructed in the last few years.

This cache shouldn't be hard to find. It is very close the medieval Tower, and is in a transparent "Curver" tupperware box, with blue top, wrapped in yellowish plastic bag.

Unfortunately I didn't have black, brown or green plastic bag with me - as that would make this cache even more "stealth". If you do have such a plastic bag with you, please feel free to replace the "original" one :)

Apart from the log book, pen and instructions, there are of course few small goodies there.

If you want more instructions ("spoilers" as they are called) please check my log entries below. There are photos of the location where this cache is hidden.

Enjoy the your trip to the Vrsac and Vrsacki Breg!
