The Siltcoos River is a short river on the central Oregon coast. It begins at Siltcoos Lake and drains mostly westward to the Pacific Ocean a direct distance of 2.3 miles (3.7 km) but approximately 3 meandering river miles (5 km). It is located about 8 miles south of Florence, Oregon and 20 miles north of Reedsport, Oregon.
The river course has minor elevation change and passes between some low hills, through a marshy area and some of the sand dunes of Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area which is within Siuslaw National Forest.
Wax Myrtle Campground has 56 sites with fire pits and tables. There are 5 toilets, 4 vault and 1 flush. Drinking water is available. Fishing is good along a nearby fisherman's trail. The Chief Siltcoos Trail is located about 500' from the entrance to the campground. Beach access is by a sand road to the east of the campground.
