Midt imellem parkeringspladser og kontorbygninger dukker denne lille plet op på grænsen mellem Albertslund og Glostrup.
Konsulindelunden blev i 1949 foræret af konsulinde Gerda Hartmann til Glostrup Kommune, idet hun dog betingede sig ret til fortsat kreaturvanding. Gerda Hartmann var enke efter Hjalmar Hartmann (1870-1945), indehaver af det verdenskendte Hartmanns Frølager samt dansk generalkonsul i Rusland.
Efter at have været lukket i mange år blev Konsulindelunden i 2005 åbnet for publikum. Man lader træer og buske vokse vildt til gavn for dyr og mennesker. Stedet har en rig fauna og vil ændre udseende som tiden går.
Man kan se flere træarter, bl.a. birk, bøg, eg, hyld, skovfyr, el, pil, tjørn, elm, ahorn og lind. Der findes udgåede træer, som tiltrækker spætter og andre fugle, som æder insekterne på de rådnende stammer.
Man kan møde egern, som færdes på skovbunden eller i trækronerne. Søen er hjemsted for ænder og andre fugle, som trives ved vandet. Somme tider vil fiskehejren kunne ses spejdende efter en padde eller en fisk.
Cachen indeholder logbog, skriveredskab, FFC, junior FFC og bytteting.
The Consul's Wife's Grove
This little spot is wedged in between parking lots and office buildings. It's right on the border of the cities of Albertslund and Glostrup.
The grove was in 1949 given by Gerda Hartmann to the city of Glostrup - on the condition, though, that her cattle was allowed to drink from the lake. Gerda Hartmann was the widow of Hjalmar Hartmann (1870-1945), owner of the world famous Hartmann's Seeds and the Danish Consul General in Russia.
After having been closed to the public for many years, the grove was opened in 2005. Trees and bushes grow naturally to the benefit of animals and people. The place has a rich fauna and will change over time.
You will be able to see different kinds of trees, among others birch, beech, oak, elderberry, pine, el, willow, hawthorn, elm, maple and lime (hope I translated all those correctly :-). There are dead trees that attract woodpeckers and other birds that eat the insects from the rotting tree trunks.
You will possibly see a squirrel. The lake is home to ducks and other birds. The grey heron will sometimes visit to look for a frog or a fish.
The cache contains log, writing utensil, FFC, junior FFC and trading objects.
