Geocache Description:

A nano near a long lost pub.

Many thanks to geocacher Myself&I for supplying the following information and the photograph.

The Prince of Wales was sadly closed and de-licensed on 13th May 1968. It started as a simple beer house in 1874 run by Daniel Savage and was taken over in 1897 by William Kemp Savage. In 1921 ownership passed to Jude Hanbury who along with Frederick Leney took over the Yalding based brewery of H.T. Wickham and Company and the pub became owned by the brewery.

The Prince of Wales at Haviker Street

Charles Easton was given tenancy on 15th December 1921 and he stayed until 1945. A beer and wine license was granted on 17th April 1939 and a full license was issued in 1955. Fremlins Brewery acquired the pub when they bought Leney and Sons on 1st November 1960. The last landlord was Alfred H.W. Grant who moved in on 25th July 1966.

If anybody would like to expand the Kent Lost Pubs series please do, we would just ask that you let LVT know first so we can keep track of the Pub numbers and names, to avoid duplication. Please avoid pubs that have become restaurants.
