Take the Long Falls Dam Road to the construction road. Walk in to the Hut.
This Hut is currently under construction, and I will update this when the Hut opens. There are several ways to approach this. If you are finding the other Huts & Trails caches, keep going on the Carriage Road, it's only 5.1 miles total and from the # 3 cache it's only 3 more miles. You can also reach the Long Falls Dam Road from North New Portland. OR, if you are really into exercise, go to the # 3 cache, walk maybe half a mile to the sign that says Flagstaff. Then it's only 11.3 miles more each way!
When you come off the Carriage Road, it's 4.4 miles more on blacktop road to the construction road on the left (no signs yet). Or 4.3 miles from where the power transmission lines cross the road. The coords for the start of the construction road are 45 11.212 070 09.498. You can drive in the 6/10ths of a mile to the gate, then walk about 7/10ths of a mile more to the Hut. There is room to park a couple of cars off the road just before the gate. This gate is locked weekends and I would advise going then to avoid construction traffic.
This second Hut is in a really beautiful location, right near the lake. The water is low now so you can see that there would be a sandy beach in the summer. A loon was calling while we were there. The cache is a 9"x5"x4" Sterilite plastic container with a waterproof log book and some good swag. There is also an activated geocoin, given to me by the cacher Toronar when he was caching in Eustis. This coin wants to travel back to Germany, to one of his caches. Please cover this cache well after you find it. It should be accessible in winter, depending on the snow depth.
