Geocache Description:

Monumento al Cacique Loquillo

Este cache se encuntra en el pueblo de Luquillo, lugar donde vivi 13 años de mi vida.

Es muy facil de hacer y se encuentra cerca de la 65 de infanteria ( carretera numero 3 ).

El lugar le rinde homenaje a unos de los grandes luchadores indigenas quien defendio valientemente su tierra contra los colonizadores españoles.

El nombre del municipio tal vez se remonte, como algunos sugieren, a Lucuo o Loukuo, divinidad taína. Más frecuentemente se hace referencia a Yukiyú o Yocajú, divinidad benéfica que habita en las montañas de Luquillo. Debe tenerse presente que en los primeros años del siglo XVI vivió en esta región el cacique Loquillo, palabra posiblemente españolizada, que mantuvo larga guerra de guerrillas contra los españoles refugiados en las montañas.

This cache is in the Luquillo town.

It is very easy to do and is near 65 of infantry (road number 3).

The place honoring one of the biggest indigenous fighters who defend with bravely his land against the Spanish settlers.
