4.23. Unarchiving a Geocache

The archiving of a geocache is intended to be a permanent status. That is why only community volunteer reviewers and Geocaching HQ staff have the capability to unarchive it. This is done only in rare circumstances and only if it meets the current Geocache Listing Guidelines.

If a geocache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance it will not be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

This cache may have a high muggle factor during peak times. An evening torchlight stroll may be in order.

Lookout Point, Rotary Park and Seamens Memorial Wall are up the hill from Eden Wharf. They offer panoramic views over beautiful Twofold Bay to Mt Imlay.
The early history of the Bay is closely tied to the whaling industry. The first whales were killed as early as 1791. The migration of these animals (mostly Right Whales) to and from the Antarctic waters took them past Twofold Bay between May and November of each year.

Commercial exploitation commenced in the early years of the 19th Century when whaling ships took shelter in the Bay from inclement weather, subsequently using it as a base for operations.

On the lookout adjoining Rotary Barbeque Park, there is located a unique memorial wall on which plaques have, and are still being erected, carrying the names of seafarers, fishermen and others, who through tragedy have been lost out of Eden and their bodies never recovered. The wall was built by a local committee following the sinking of the Eden Trawler “Shiralee” in 1978 with the loss of all three men on board.
