A cache set on open parkland not far from the M6 Toll Road. Well defined paths lead to the cache but they are very muddy after rain you will need wellies.
There are some nice views of Norton Canes and the tower of St James' Church can be seen peeping from above the trees.
The area around Norton Canes was heavily mined until the last mine was closed in 1993. The cache site has been landscaped with hundreds of trees being planted and natural lakes forming in the hollows. There is evidence all round of its previous history with huge boulders of different types of rock which had been hewn from the mine. Near to the cache there is one particular boulder which glitters with iron pyrite or 'Fool's Gold' hence the name of the cache.
I have relocated and changed the cache from 11/1/12 due to muggles dumping their dog's waste products at gz. Hopefully this is a better site for the cache.
Update 18/01/12 no it wasn't a better site (too close to another cache) so I've moved it again but you will still have to climb to the top!!
Update 10/6/12 the cache is lost so I've replaced it and moved it closer to the path.
Well done to PazaUk, Izzy and Paul and Graham for being First to Find. I should have put more badges in for you.
