Geocache Description:

Take 37 (center road) all the way to the end and park at the lighthouse. A round trip to the cache from the parking lot will be a little over a mile. This cache has been replaced several times, please let me know if the ammo can, last sighted in the north end of rock pile turns up. I can not find it and replaced with a pill bottle on 4/30/12 and raised the difficulty level.

This cache is very similar to the Seagull's Misery cache here in this park. I would not recommend this cache on certain days, in the spring and summer you will be attacked by lots and lots of bugs, they start around the time the Barn Swallows migrate back to the park. On some days it will look like smoke or haze above the road leading into the light house because the swarms of newly hatched bugs are so thick. Another consideration will be future water levels which are unpredictable. The terrain is relatively flat, but can have issues like slimy mucky areas that are hard to avoid. The terrain is rated higher for some of these reasons, besides the fact that there are a lot of rocks. In mucky areas I suggest using these rocks when present as stepping stones.

I've been eyeing this piece of land for quite a while for a new cache at the most northern point on Old Mission Peninsula, but every time there seems to be a muggle around. The last time, half way out, I see a fisherman was at the end of the line. Yesterday, I made the hike down the trail and found a neat spot for a cache. There are many rocks in the area, a few of them are very large interesting specimens. The best time to do this one is like yesterday, strong northerly winds with large breakers meeting at the end of land and start of an under water point. The sound is spectacular on windy days, as well as the view. You can also get a good long shot of the lighthouse from here.

The FTF prize is a United States 1957 $1.00 silver certificate.

Congrats to Nik and River JMAN's first FTF on 10/24/08!
