Dr. Charles Hertzler established the Green Valley Clinic in Bergton. Its initial location was in the Fulks Run Grocery Store until its present location could be built. Dr. Hertzler worked here until 1967. In a letter dated October 22, 1944 Dr. Hertzler explains his dream:
"...My dream, very briefly, is something like this: I shall be a country doctor...
"I want to be a good doctor, on call, and when somebody is sick at home and calls me, I shall go and first take care of the patient and reassure the family and then draw my chair up to the stove for a fireside chat with the family...
"It may be the Lord will even use me to bring some soul to Himself or to cheer some discouraged Christian...I should like to be a regular community doctor who people will listen to because they have confidence in him."
Since 1967, Dr. Lindford Gehman has carried on the clinic's tradition of responding readily to the community's medical needs.
The Green Valley Clinic has given permission for a cache on their property. Please only seek this cache in the daylight. Some of the nursing staff do not know about the cache.
