Geocache Description:

This has always been one of my favorite thinking spots over the years. HollyHox actually showed it to my family about half of my life ago. We wanted to place this cache here in honor of her, and for her enjoyment as well.

This lookout offers wonderful views of the Skagit Valley, the Northern Cascades, local farmlands and even a view of the tulip fields during the right time of year (and one that is away from the crowds even!). Be sure to check out the natural amphitheater below and look for the benchmarks on top!

The hike is short, but difficult in one area for a couple steps. Several log entries note the difficult terrain. There are at least three ways up to the top of the rock, explore thoroughly and select the one that suits you best.

Option A: The trail comes to an abrupt end at a rock face with a wire fence on the left. Scale the rock face. This is not recommended! The fence is topped with barbed wire, and this is really the most difficult path to the top.

Option B: Take a few steps back and notice another trail on the right that travels away from the wire fence. Trail maintenance was performed 3/31/2013, but only for accessibility. This is not a maintained or marked trail by any means. If you are following huckleberry bushes, you're in the right place. After several yards you will come to another, much shorter, rock face to scale. Be safe, have fun.

Option C: If you're looking at what is in front of you and wondering if you can accomplish this while being safe and still having fun, duck under the branches covering the "end" of the trail. Just around the corner there is a third rock face with the shortest reach to cover. I even added a stepping wedge of sorts 3/31/2013. Trail can be overgrown at times, but is always established. Minor bushwacking/holding back branches may be required.

Be respectful of the nearby private property. Parking is available at the Rexville Grange below.

The cache is a small lock-n-lock. Once you're in the area, there aren't many options for hiding locations.

Original cache contents include general swag items, CITO kit, thimble from Singapore and an unactivated personal trackable token of ours for FTF.

7/02/2009 - Replacement cache hid, see updated coordinates.

Congratulations to Johnny Boy and DB Cooper for being FTF our first cache!
