Be part of dozens of events all around the world, coordinated to happen at the same time to bring together geocachers and introduce others to geocaching. This is part of an event organized by San Diego geocachers iTrax and Foxtail. This "Flash Mob" gathering of Geocachers will only be 15 minutes long! Trade swag! Win a prize! Catch some Beads! Scream! Laugh! HAVE FUN!!
The World Wide Flash Mob Event:
The theme for this location is Mardi Gras!
The event will begin precisely at 11:00 am on November 8, 2008. The event will be held at the Shops at Briargate. We will meet on the grassy knoll between PF Chang’s and Biaggi’s Italian Restaurant (behind the ENT ATM). This is in an open public space. The event will be highly organized and facilitated by volunteers.
The Plan:
At exactly 11:00 am (as determined by the GPS clock) we will place a bucket full of swag at the coordinates. The theme for the swag at this event is, of course, Mardi Gras! At this point, all geocachers will converge, seeming to come out of "nowhere".
To qualify for attendance, bring your signed index card and drop them in a designated bucket.You MUST be present and bring an index card (or any card for that matter) with your name on it DURING this time to claim the event We will use these for the raffle as well. Index cards/pens will be on hand, but remember, this is a timed event, so you will have mere minutes to sign and get ready for the raffle! Participants may trade swag via the swag bucket at any time. We encourage you to bring swag to trade. If any muggles are curious about the event we will have fliers that explain geocaching. At a designated time, we will take a group photo.
At precisely 11:15 the bucket, and index cards will be packed up and sealed away. The event area will be vacated without a trace!!! Events that happen after 11:15:01 do not count as part of THIS event.
Only those participants whose index cards we’ve collected may log the event. We will be making a "book" out of the cards and attaching a TB to it. This will then travel from cache to cache, explaining the Flash Mob and Geocaching phenomenon!
Note: Although participants are welcome to get together after the event, the event will officially be over at 11:15 am. The crowd must disperse and act as if nothing happened. Afterwards, participants may chat and meet somewhere else. There are also several caches nearby to find before or after the event. One is even within walking distance!!
