Geocache Description:

A small cache in a semi quiet park.

This is the Mahim Nature Park. A 37 acre oasis of trees and wildlife created on the grounds of an old garbage dump not far from what is described as Asia’s largest slum.

The park is along the Mithi River which flows westward into Mahim Bay and the Arabian Sea. The park entrance is across the street from the Dharavi bus stop on the Bandra – Sion Link Road. While it is not far from the Airport, traffic can make the short trip seem endless.

Information online shows the park is open daily from 9:30 AM to 6 PM. However, the sign at the guardhouse says entry is 8:45 to 3:30 with the gate is closing at 4 PM. The park is also closed on obscure local holidays. Your driver can park just inside the gate.

In 2012 the cache was moved to a new location along the trail close to the river. In February 2013 the cache was moved back to it's original location. If you peek at the spoiler pictures, please be sure you are looking at the correct one.

The cache is a very small plastic container with no room for travel bugs. Please rehide with minimal cover to protect from the grounds keepers who are looking for piles of sticks to remove.

During maintenance visit in November, I was greeted by a beautiful cloud of butterflies just inside the gate. A real treat after a couple days in the city!

Small note on cache maintenance: I visit several times a year on business, so maintenance should not be an issue.
