Geocache Description:

Located on a disused railway line called the Pilgrims Way.

The cache is a camouflaged green plastic container containing a note book, pencil, and various small swap objects. There is room for TB's and coins.

The cache is located near the famous Slipper Chapel which was the last stopping point for pilgrims to Walsingham and traditionally one would walk the last stage barefoot, hence (presumably) the name. There's a lot of fast traffic on the road out to Houghton St Giles, but there's a new "Pilgrims' Way" built along part of the old railway bed, which offers pedestrian and full disabled access in safety. It is along this 'Way' where you will find the cache.
Walsingham was a place of pilgrimage from the medieval period until the dissolution of the monasteries, The old shrine site was excavated and rebuilt during the early part of the twentieth century and regular pilgrimages started once more.
During the summer months, particularly, this tiny village is descended upon by thousands of visitors and a certain amount of stealth will be required.
There is numerous parking places available.
