Geocache Description:

Nice trail from Lewis and Clark State Park

This is a fun trail you can find from the north side of the Lewis and Clark State Park parking lot. Here at the park there are picnic tables, restrooms and drinking fountains too. Follow the fence (and railroad) east to a trail that will lead you up. A quick climb right away, but then things level out. You have to navigate over roots and trees. USE CAUTION there are slippery rocks, loose rocks, and narrow footing in some places. The final location, coordinates may be spotty, but once you spot the huge rock, you are in the right area, see the hints for more specific location clue.

One of my favorite features of this trail is that not only are dogs allowed, but they are allowed off leash. I have hiked this trail 5 or 6 times and never seen anyone else on it. Granted, during the summer, the paths are thick in some areas with stinging nettles and the like, but right now all the nettles and briars have died back and the leaves are turning magnificient colors!

The cache is a clear rubbermaid type container. It contains some new, but inexpensive items (silly putty, color changing ring etc) I didn't have to camo the container just because the location provided enough camo.

You may want to bring a flashlight, and if you are chlostrophobic, bring someone with you to retrieve the cache.
