The Indiana Spirit Quest series of geocaches will take you to a number of historic cemeteries and historic sites built by Hoosier Pioneers. In just over two years, the quest has grown to over five hundred caches hidden in Indiana, Ohio and Michigan and Ontario and the hiders have grown to THIRTY cacher teams, most of which are comprised of Dogs and their Humans. Over 1,000 cacher teams have logged over 20,500 finds. .

INDIANA SPIRIT QUEST #652

"Zion Hill Baptist Cemetery"

This quest will bring you to the Zions Hill Baptist cemetery in Baker Township of Morgan County. A church once stood here as well. All that remains of the church now is the parking lot. This is probably the nicest parking lot you will see for a rural cemetery. The cemetery is fairly young as rural cemeteries go, with the earliest burials occuring between 1910-1920. Most graves are much newer than that, but there are a lot of veterans buried here.

Old Navy Man

There are a couple of WW I veterans buried here. Mr. Cooksey was in the US Navy. His rank of F2 is a bit confusing and research is not turning up a definitive definition. Ratings usually begin with an O for officers, W for warrant officers and E for enlisted men. My best guess is F2 might be for a Fireman 2nd class.

Coast Guard Veteran

Coast Guard veterans are not all that common in Indiana. Could be because we're a landlocked state. During WW2 the Coast Guard saw much action off both coasts. The US Coast Guard was credited with sinking 11 German U-boats and 2 Japanese submarines. The Coast Guard lost 16 ships during WWII, although many were to hurricanes or grounding, as opposed to being sunk by enemy actions.
