Oakville named after the fact the area was Sheoak SUPERR rr LADEN. John Clark in 1794 named his purchased property "Oakville".

Oakville was originally part of Kings Common named after Govenor King.
Most areas around here have 'Common" areas. Ham Common is still an area used by travellers and locals.
Other 'Commons' were Wilberforce Common,Pitt Town Common etc. these areas, at least 5000 acres were set up for settlers to graze stock.
