Geocache Description:

A short stroll with glimpses of the pond.

Hawksnest West Point
is a single stage cache on the western shore of Hawksnest Pond and one of Hawksnest Series of caches exploring trails and views of Hawksnest State Park in Harwich. Coming from the north, proceed slowly down Norman Walker Road and look for the State Property signs on the left. There is an interesting family cemetery visible from the dirt road soon after you enter. Please bring a pen to sign the log. You DO NOT have to go into the thorns at GZ. After you locate the cache, please rehide as found. To return to your car, retrace your steps. If continuing on, follow the sandy road north leading to paved Spruce road and follow east to the start of Hawksnest Broken Trees. While there’s not much traffic on Spruce road, folks due tend to fly, so stick to the shoulder or explore the deer trails along the steep northern shore of the pond.

update 9/27/13 This is one of those caches that starts off hard but gets easier (geotrail/word of mouth?) so don't be intimidated by the difficulty rating. It's just a little different is all.
