Martha's Demise
1801 - 1865
Martha E.
Dale was barely alive
When she came to Sisters in ‘65.
She eventually made it from the
WEST,
Escapin’ a hangin’ to which she’d confessed.
In the WEST she took to
stealin’ cache,
To pay for her longin’ for minty stash.
The law caught up with Missus
Dale,
But she knew she couldn’t post the bail.
She’d thought to start over in
this small town,
But found the Altoid Tins kept her down.
The minty drops were still
a’callin’,
Which left poor Martha screamin’ and bawlin’.
She stole now from her neighbor
Sue,
And her past caught up with her anew.
The rope was swingin’ on the
day,
That Martha’s Addiction carried her away.
