The Post Office was located five miles north and one mile west of Clearwater, Kansas and one mile and a quarter north of Ruby Cemetery. Williams S. Struthers opened the Post Office on February 11,1879. Mail was kept in a walnut chest of drawers. Brought by horse overland from Wichita, Kansas. After the railroad Missouri-Pacific came thru Bayneville, Kansas, a Mrs Roseberry, who had to walk five miles to Ruby for her mail, would go to Bayneville Post Office and bring back the mail that had come in by train for the Ruby, Post Office. Usually she used a horse and wagon. After Struthers died, his wife continued to be the postmaster. The Post Office was closed June 30, 1894 and the mail was then sent to the Clearwater Post Office.
