... do archivu s nou. RIP.

Geocache Description:

EN: The cache is located at historically important place with relatively nice panoramic view.

Z pevnosti Rimania kontrolovali velku cast Zahoria a Bratislavsku branu. V pripade potreby mohli nadviazat vizualny kontakt s hlavnym mestom provincie Panonia, Carnuntom (v dnesnom Rakusku), vzdialenym asi 30 km.

Stupavsku stanicu zacali budovat zaciatkom 2. storocia vojenske jednotky rimskych legii z Carnunta a Vindobony. Stanica mala tvar dvorca, chraneneho obvodovym murom a rozmermi priblizne 70 x 70 metrov. V strede stala velitelska budova s 20 miestnostami a ustrednym dvorom. V areali stanice boli objavene prve rimske kupele na uzemi Slovenska. Kupele mali vlastne vykurovanie a rozvod tepla. Existenciu stanice dokazuju aj nalezy zbrani, brnenia, keramiky, sperkov, minci, fragmentov sklenych nadob a hospodarskeho naradia. Mnohe z nalezov je mozne zhliadnut v archeologickom muzeu v Bratislave.

Napriek historickej hodnote uzemia vyzera jeho sucasny stav dost biedne. Archeologicky vyskum sa skoncil, ruiny boli zakonzervane a zahrabane. Snaha urobit z miesta muzeum v prirode zostala zatial iba snahou. Namiesto rimskych ruin najdete na mieste len clenity a neupraveny teren. Davajte si pozor pod nohy!

Skrysa: Skrysa je venovana Rimskej risi, preto, ak je to mozne vymienajte predmety suvisiace s Rimom, historiu, vojnami a pod. Zaujemcom o rimsku historiu a architekturu odporucam navstivit aj dalsie zaujimave miesta v sirsom okoli, napr. GC10PEV (7 Dogs of Caesar), GC1089X (Gerulata), GC1G6FK (Devin Castle Rock/ Devinske Hradne Bralo).

EN (shortened description): The place buries remains of Roman military station. The station was one of several protecting Limes Romanus, the boundaries of the Roman Empire. The station monitored large surrounding area and was in a visual contact with the main Roman army camp in Pannonia area, Carnuntum (located 30 km away, in Austria). The station was built in the beginning of 2nd century and covered the area of 70 x 70 meters. The excavations proved the existence of the first Roman bath in area of Slovakia.

Despite historical value of the place, the whole area is currently abandoned. The archeological survey had been finished, the ruins were preserved and buried. Instead of the ruins, you will find here only broken and bunchy terrain. Watch your feet!

Cache: The cache is dedicated to Roman Empire, therefore if possible exchange only items related to Rome, history or wars.
