Playing Hookey Today? Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

paulks: Archived. Gone. Jefferson County school district gardeners removed the lower limbs of the trees in this little grove--and took my cache with it. RIP, little guy.

Geocache Description:

Find this cache near a school field and residential housing. Extreme stealth is required when kids, parents, teachers or neighbors are outdoors.

Since this cache is near a school, thoughts of your own education may bubble up.
  • What did you learn at school that shaped your life?
  • Did a special teacher take an interest in you and give you confidence in yourself?
  • How many of your teachers put their heart and soul into their jobs -- and how many just gritted their teeth and waited for their paycheck or retirement?
  • Did your parents, a neighbor, or someone else in your community mentor you and give you a "real" education?
  • What alternatives are there to a conveyor belt education?

Personally, two authors radically changed my thinking about education:

  1. John Taylor Gatto (NY teacher of the year)
  2. Oliver DeMille (founder of George Wythe University)

Look for a well-camouflaged 35mm film container. Start on the "inside" of the tree and look outward. This container is difficult to spot from the outside looking in. Warning: The 3rd hint is a dead give-away, so only use it if you're stumped.
