Classic Rock Series – Pink Floyd (Money) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

illinitrekker: After several DNFs, I am going to assume this one is gone. I do not have a replacement at the ready and this one has been particularly challenging for folks. Given the proximity to another series cache (which I may move ever-so-slightly), it is time to remove this one from play.

Geocache Description:

Every town needs a good series of caches. This is the first of several I plan to introduce to Athens, Ohio. The Classic Rock Series is intended to informative. Once you find the cache, the container will not be that exciting (e.g., no travel bugs, swag). However, there will be one or more creative aspects that will enrich the experience by adding a little extra meaning.

Each cache is a micro with a log only. Be sure to bring a writing instrument. The micro is hidden in a way that adds an extra dimension to the series title. I will try to place the containers to make it as easy as possible to search, but these are still high traffic areas. Maximum stealth and strategic parking are a must to conceal your activities. Keep your log entry short (i.e., date, caching handle) and be gentle with the log. Be sure the container is completely sealed. When you replace the cache, try to recreate a natural look and make sure the container is not exposed.

Special thanks to Sammie4516 for some of the inspiration and for sharing information to guide my work.

In 1965, Pink Floyd emerged from several transformations of earlier bands with original members Bob Klose, Nick Mason, Roger Waters, and Richard Wright. Syd Barrett joined the band a short time after its formation and was later replaced by David Gilmour (purportedly due to Barrett’s mental health problems stemming from heavy drug use). The band’s success skyrocketed with their 1973 psychedelic release The Dark Side of the Moon.

It is reported (but I cannot validate this) that Dark Side can be synchronized to the Wizard of Oz in such a way that Money plays as Dorothy begins her journey down the Yellow Brick Road. The characteristic “cha-ching” in the tune ushers the change from black and white to color in the original movie. You may be able to hear a few “cha-chings” as you look for this cache.

FTF - Congratulations to Gingersays!
