Well it’s that time, again. Time to get together and have a
few
laughs; swap a few lies (how big was that snake?), chow down on
some great vittles, renew some old friendships, and make a few new
ones. It's time for the 4th Annual (Can you believe it the 4th
annual – already) Down Home Cachers' Reunion. MARK YOUR CALENDARS
FOR THURSDAY, DECEMBER 11TH.
We read each other's logs, cheer on your successes, and laugh at
your failures (better change that to sympathize with your delayed
successes - editor). Well, don't miss this opportunity to put a
face with a name.Same time same place as last year. The plan is to
begin gathering at 6:00 P.M. and start eating at about 7:00 P.M.
That will give those of us who A. have to work and B. have to
travel to Longview a window of opportunity. This is a family
oriented sport, so, of course, the entire family is invited.
Children are certainly welcome. So are Granny and Gramps (probably
best to leave the pets at home [I know they geocache too, but
unless you can convince the manager that it really is a seeing-eye
lizard, you are going to have to leave them in the car]). You can
also leave any Muggles with the pets. The restaurant is a good
down-home style so don't worry about getting all duded-up - casual
is the key word. The restaurant closes at 9:00 P.M. so I would
expect that that would be the latest this event would last (that is
unless you forget your wallet - plenty of dishes to wash after
closing time).
As far as entertainment goes, we have a couple of things in mind.
There will be a few door prizes – just like last year, so if any of
you have a door to donate to the cause, please do. Christmas is
right around the corner. Last year’s Yankee Trader was fun, but it
bogged down in the execution (bogged down, stuck in the mud and had
to have help to get moving – just like some caches I know). This
year we will try something a little more traditional, a simple gift
exchange (logistics to be figured out – probably that night). If
you choose to participate, you will need to bring a wrapped gift
(one for each person in your group who wants to participate). The
gift may or may not be associated with caching (be creative), and
you probably shouldn’t spend more than $10.00 for it (but you can
do whatever you want).
If you think you can make this event, post a note to this cache so
that we have some idea as to what to expect. Also, please make sure
that as many geocachers as possible know of the event. Don't assume
they will see it.
