INDIANA SPIRIT QUEST #658

"Tuley"

Welcome to Tuley Graves, in LaPorte County, Indiana.

The Tuley Graves are just that. Two lone graves up on a small hill on the corner of an intersection. At one time there was a small church across the road called Oak Chapel.

It was on the steps of that church that Miriam E. Benedict died. She was the first settler of LaPorte County, Indiana. See Indiana Spirit Quest # 657 - First Lady (GC1HWE5)

James (died Feb. 18, 1837) and Martha (died April 11, 1851) Tuley were buried on a corner of their farm which is now a blueberry farm.

The local historical society has shorn up the stones and created a new marker between the olders ones.
